A group of lawyers led by fiery Warri-based legal practitioner John Aikpokpo-Martins visited Labour Party Member-Elect, Hon. Barr. Bright Ngene, at the Enugu Correctional Centre today.

Alongside Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kunle Edun, Aikpokpo-Martins led volunteer lawyers to see their colleague Ngene, who was declared winner of the Enugu South Urban rerun election by INEC but has been in detention.
The visit comes amid protests today at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA AGC) in Enugu demanding Ngene’s release.
Protesters described Ngene as a “politically imprisoned” candidate and called for his freedom. Aikpokpo-Martins expressed concern that Ngene is “being denied access to justice by the legal profession itself.”
