YORUBA COMMUNITY IN ENUGU GETS NEW OBA, AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP

Hails Gov Mbah development stride

The Yoruba community in Enugu State at the weekend, celebrated a dual occasion with the public presentation of Engr. Isiaka Abidemi Salmon as the new Oba of the Yoruba community in Enugu state.

Engr. Salmon, a computer engineer and lecturer with expertise in system/cyber security and information technology, was unanimously endorsed as the leader of the Yoruba community in Enugu after a rigorous selection process.

The selection process involved nominations from various Yoruba states living in Enugu, followed by a thorough vetting by a selection committee. Engr. Salmon’s qualifications, experience, and commitment to serving the community made him an ideal candidate for the leadership role.

In his new capacity, Engr. Salmon aims to leverage his expertise and experience to serve the Yoruba community in Enugu. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Nigeria Computer Society, and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

The scholarship awards, which targeted 30 students, were presented to some of the beneficiaries. The students are set to study at a Polytechnic in Kwara State and Gateway College of Education in Osun State. The scholarship scheme is a continuous initiative by the Yoruba community to support indigent students.

Engr. Salmon’s leadership and the scholarship program are expected to have a positive impact on the Yoruba community in Enugu, promoting education, unity, and development..

Oba Isiaka Salmon however said that the governor of Enugu state, Peter Mbah has done wonderfully well in ensuring a peaceful coexistence between natives and foreigners in Enugu.

“Governor Mbah has done noble in a very short time. I commend him for the infrastructures he is setting up in the state. Is it the smart school, the healthcare facilities, or he road construction, and his efforts in growing the GDP of the state.

“We the Yoruba community in Enugu will continue to give him our maximum support to ensure that his dream for the state is achieved”. Oba Salmon said.

Recall that Engr. Isiaka Salmon came to Enugu state in 2007 as a Youth Corper. He also holds a Ph.D in computer engineering.
