The Nigerian Army (NA) celebrated the 2025 Nigerian Army Day (NADCEL) with a special interdenominational Sunday service held at Saint Paul Military Church, Abakpa Military Cantonment, Enugu.
The event was attended by troops of the 82 Division and featured prayers for the success of the NA, divine guidance for national leaders, and prosperity for Nigeria.
Keynote Address
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division and Force Commander, Joint Task Force (South East) Operations UDOKA, Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye, delivered the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
He emphasized that leadership is the practical reflection and application of a leader’s character, urging officers and soldiers to lead by example and uphold the core values of the NA.
Spiritual Commitment
In a statement issued and signed by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lt. Col Olabisi Ayeni, Major General Olatoye encouraged troops to draw closer to God and intensify their spiritual commitment, stressing that only divine intervention can secure victory for the NA.
He also prayed for peace, unity, and divine guidance for both the NA leadership and the nation.
Sermons and Prayers
The Chaplain Roman Catholic, Reverend Col (Very Rev Fr) MG Udotong (rtd), urged Christian faithfuls to foster peace and build trust, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliations.
He also called on officers and soldiers to uphold discipline, remain loyal to their commanders, and maintain a prayerful life.
The Chief Imam of 82 Division, Lt Col HSO Eneje, encouraged troops to be committed, obedient, and loyal to constituted authority, and to cultivate the fear of Almighty God in the discharge of their duties.
