A pro-Biafra group, the Biafra Provisional Government, has called on Ndigbo to be drastic in their actions if they want the insecurity perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in the region to end.
Arising from an executive meeting penultimate week in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, the BPG, which condemned the level of insecurity that pervades the landscape of Igboland, called Ndigbo to stop patronizing Fulani cows as that is the only way to end their terrorism in the region.
President of the Provisional Government, Dr. Chile Nwoko, who was interacting with newsmen, asked “how did Ndigbo get here? At what point did we start prioritizing wealth over virtues”?
“I can’t believe that many Ndigbo are still buying and selling cow, and cow meat from Northern Nigeria.
“Imagine that the garri produced in Igbo Land, or plantain produced in Igbo Land are in anyway a health, or existential challenge to the Fulanis, wouldn’t they or even the Nigerian government barred the sale of such commodities”?, he queried.
He lamented that Ndigbo were rather busy patronizing the same killer product, and even hiring the same killer herdsmen to rear their cows.
“Igbo Land prior to now, was known as a peaceful enclave, with people going about their businesses. Night life was at peak, with the economy at progressive rate. Those overseas were bringing in their investments to energize the environment and create jobs for the teaming young population.
“However, all those have been thwarted by the rising insecurity all over the place. There is killing of those who go to farm, raping of women, abduction of people for organ harvesting, and for ransom. All these have been traced to Fulani herders who use cow rearing as a camouflage, while their real intent is to terrorize the populace, seeking for Fulani colony.
Dr. Chile expressed fears that this is happening not only in bushes but close to homes in villages, queried if an Igbo could go to Sokoto, or Katsina with Igbo type of cow or goat to feed on the farm of Sultan of Sokoto.
“Can an Igbo man go to Kano, demolish a tomato processing factory, and build his motor spare part factory unauthorized? In addition to this, kill the owner of the tomato processing factory, and rape his wives? If this can not happen, or accepted by the Fulanis wherever, and the Nigerian government, then there is nothing on this earth that justifies what the Fulani terrorists called herders are doing in Igboland”, he said.
He expressed worry that some Northern senators and representatives are seen and heard emphatically asserting that Fulanis have the right to move everywhere with their cow.
“However, they forget that where the right of the Fulanis stop is where the right of others begin,” Dr. Nwoko said.
Speaking further, Dr. Nwoko stated that it has become imperative that NdiIgbo do something drastic on the menace by Fulani terrorists.
We cannot continue to patronize our killers; that is stupidity.
He stated that this is not the first time Biafra Provisional Government has highlighted on this menace by the Fulanis so called Herders. Unfortunately, heed was not given to the call”
On possible solution(s), he explained that NdiIgbo need to boycott consumption of cow meat from the North, and avoid importing such cows into Igbo Land. We have our species of cow which can be made to be in commercial numbers, with owners trained on modern ranching. It is unfortunate those Igbo in Nigeria’s position of authority seem not to realise this.
” We have Stockfish which is a staple source of protein for us, but which, unfortunately is graded as animal feeds by Nigerian government, and makes its Importation very difficult which is the reason for its high cost” he opined.
Furthermore, he asserted that if these marauders and terrorists, hiding as Herders, do not stop entering Igbo territories, the Igbo will have no other choice left than to kill any unauthorized Fulani found in Igbo Land carrying gun”. Self preservation is the first law of nature”.
