Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has inaugurated the Enugu State Ease-of-Doing-Business Council, a 25-man body aimed at creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
The council’s establishment is part of Mbah’s efforts to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion by attracting private investments and repositioning Enugu as a premier destination for business, investment, tourism, and living.
Strategic Steps to Ease Business Operations
Mbah highlighted several strategic steps taken to ease business operations in Enugu State, including:
- Establishment of the Enugu State Geographic Information Systems (ENGIS) for easy access to land
- Creation of a one-stop shop for processing permits
- Investments in ultramodern security infrastructure
- Building of transport infrastructure
- Development of digital infrastructure
- Skilled manpower development
Stakeholders’ Reactions
Stakeholders, including Dr. Eric Chime, 2nd Deputy President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, and Barr. Sam Otobueze, President of the Nsukka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, commended Mbah for his efforts to align Enugu State with global standards and attract businesses.
They described the council as a great leap for Enugu State under Mbah’s leadership and expressed optimism about the state’s potential to attract investments.
