Enugu Police Crack Down On Cultism, Recover Firearm From Confessed Suspects

The Enugu State Police Command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad has recovered a locally fabricated double-barreled pistol in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. The recovery followed the arrest of two suspects, Uchenna Onwudi, 29, and Eze Chiadikobi, 31, who confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

  • Suspects’ Arrest: Onwudi and Chiadikobi were arrested for conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, and cultism.
  • Firearm Recovery: The suspects led police operatives to an uncompleted building where the firearm was recovered.
  • Charges: The suspects, along with their accomplices, will face court proceedings upon completion of investigations.

Police Commitment

Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime in the state. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and supportive of the police.

This recent development is part of the command’s proactive policing strategy, which has led to several notable arrests and recoveries in the past, including;

  • Previous Arrests: In May 2025, the command arrested four suspects, including a firearm fabricator, and recovered two firearms and quantities of marijuana.
  • Notable Recoveries: The command has also rescued kidnapped victims, recovered firearms, and arrested suspects involved in armed robbery, cultism, and other crimes.
