The Enugu State Government has taken Miss Ukamaka Okonkwo, a little girl rescued from the alleged ritualist and kidnapper Obi Levi Obieze, under its care.
The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, announced that the state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has awarded a scholarship to Miss Okonkwo to see her through university education.
Therapy and Rehabilitation
The government plans to provide therapy and counseling to help Miss Okonkwo recover from the trauma she experienced.
The Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development will oversee her rehabilitation before reintegrating her into society.
Support for Affected Families
The government also visited the family of the late Chimaobi Ezih to commiserate with them over his death. The Commissioner assured that the government would work with security agencies to track down and bring those involved in the crime to justice.
Zero Tolerance for Crime
The Enugu State Government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for crime, having already demolished properties linked to the alleged ritualist. The government pledged to continue working with security agencies to ensure justice is served.
