The Enugu State Government has commended the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for arresting Obi Levi Obieze, a suspected ritualist and kidnap kingpin, along the Badagry-Seme Road. The government also confirmed that the suspect’s mansions in his country home in Ezeagu LGA have been demolished.
Demolition of Suspect’s Properties
According to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the demolition was carried out in line with Section 315 (Second Amendment) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 30, Laws of Enugu State, regarding property linked to kidnapping. The government assured that the suspect would face the full weight of the law.
Call to Action
The government commended the vigilance of community members and security actors for helping to burst the crime. It also called on community leaders to be watchful and report suspicious activities to the authorities, warning that those who cover up for criminals would be treated as accomplices.
Zero Tolerance for Criminality
The Enugu State Government reiterated its commitment to combating criminality, stating that it would not condone any form of crime in its communities. The government praised the NIS officers for their diligence in apprehending the suspect.
