….Just As It Reiterates Commitment To Professionalism And Safeguarding Citizens”

The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army has denied allegations that its personnel burnt homes, looted property, and harassed civilians in Umualumaku, Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

In a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, the army described the claims as false and a calculated attempt to sabotage its efforts.

Allegations Described as Malicious

The army stated that its troops operate under strict adherence to the code of conduct in military operations and the rules of engagement, ensuring best practices.

The allegations, according to the army, appear to be the handiwork of criminal actors who orchestrate malicious reports to smear the image of the Division and undermine its efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Army’s Commitment to Professionalism

The 82 Division Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to upholding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and safeguarding law-abiding citizens.

The army also emphasized its collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and civil society organizations to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for violence and uncivilized acts.

Call for Verified Information

The army urged the media to rely only on verified information, noting that misinformation and disinformation are tools commonly deployed by criminal elements to undermine peace-building efforts.
