Senator John Azuta-Mbata has emerged the new President-General of the Igbo Apex Socio-Cultural Organisation, Ohaneze
Ndigbo worldwide.
Mbata, a former Senator representing Rivers East at the National Assembly, was elected at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly meeting held at the old government lodge Enugu, the Enugu State capital on Friday.
He succeeds Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu who was appointed to complete the tenure of late Chief Emmanuel lwuanyanwu.
Senator Azuta-Mbata who hails from Obio Akpo local government area of Rivers State was elected by consensus in the election which was witnessed by the Governors of Enugu, Imo, Abia and Anambra States.
Other dignitaries that witnessed the election include Sen. Ben Obi, Sen. Victor Umeh, Sen. Chris Ngige, Ikedi Ohakim, Chekwas Okorie, and former Senate President, Sen. Adolphus Nwagbara amongst a host of others
Meanwhile, Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia state was elected as the National Deputy President while Engr. Emeka Sibeudu, former deputy governor of Anambra state was elected the new Secretary General of the Igbo apex group.
