It was a sunny friday afternoon at Girls High School Azuiyiokwu, Abakaliki, as Wendy Wadoka Fashion Enterprise, a non partisan organization, arrived at the school for a much-anticipated community service outreach.
The air was alive with the excitement of students eager to engage in a day of learning and inspiration from Wadoka Fashion.
The team, led by its founder, Nneoma Wendy Uwadoka, made its way to the principal’s office for a brief meeting, during which the Principal, Mrs. Agboti Ngozi Etunma, warmly welcomed the team and expressed her appreciation for the initiative.
Addressing the students with a lecture on the importance of skill acquisition, Miss Nneoma Wendy Uwadoka, emphasized that practical skills not only serve as a financial backbone but also builds confidence and independence in those who acquire it.
A member of the team, Amaka Chukwuegwu, also delivered an insightful lecture on how to balance acquiring skills with pursuing a professional career.
Drawing from her own experiences, Amaka inspired the girls to see no conflict between their academic pursuits and their desire to develop practical skills.
Thereafter another team member, Oge, took the stage with a compelling session on brain development, shedding light on how skill acquisition plays a pivotal role in enhancing cognitive abilities, fostering creativity, and improving problem-solving skills.
A lively question-and-answer session followed, where students eagerly asked questions ranging from choosing the right skill to balancing time for studies and hobbies.
The team provided thoughtful responses, leaving the girls both informed and motivated.
The atmosphere shifted to one of joy and camaraderie as the event transitioned to games, distribution of food and tote bag packages with complete sewing kits.
The event came to a conclusion with a heartfelt final address from the principal, Mrs. Etunma, as she appreciated the team again for their efforts while highlighting its noble impact on the students and emphasizing the importance of giving back to empower the girl child from a young age.
